It's Still Christmas

Christmas isn't over at my house. My son, Nick, is here from San Diego. We ended up paying his airline ticket to get here. Then with all the cancelled flights at Sea-Tac and a mix-up with his ID, it looked like he wouldn't make it at all.........but he did.

Despite his flight being delayed multiple time he arrived here early Christmas Eve morning. By the time he got his bags etc it was 5 am when he rolled into our farm. He and Dave slept nearly 'til noon. Then they were off to visit my mother-in-law so I didn't even get to visit with him until they came back in the early evening.

Then on Christmas day the rest of my children came with their children.....and their children. That's right my great-granddaughters were here as well.

It's the first time I've seen the youngest, Olivia, who was born last Feb. I wrote about her in Revisiting Valentine's Day - A New Cause I've not even seen a picture before. I don't know when I will get to see her again but it was a delightful surprise to get to see her at all.

Back to Christmas Day here with 17 people for dinner in our rather cramped mobile home. It was good though. The food was good other than the stuffing which was gross (Dave made a minor? mistake in purchasing a mix), everyone got along, the kids were happy and well behaved. Other than the fact I over did it and ended up being pretty uncomfortable, it was a nice day with family. How grateful I am for new traditions!!

Then since then Nick is still here and will be for one more day. I have thoroughly enjoyed my time with him. He's working at getting his head on straight and his life in order and pretty comfortable with himself. It's been nice to have someone to talk to who does a pretty decent job of listening and isn't self absorbed. I guess that in itself feels like a gift. I will miss him when he leaves Tuesday. In the meantime, I haven't even begun to think about posting...........guess that's pretty obvious. But I sure hope all my blogging buddies found some peace and joy this holiday season.

So wonderful that all of your family could be together for Christmas. It really is what the holiday is all about, isn't it? The best gift of all, in my book. My family was very large and always got together for the major holidays when I was growing up. Those times are some of my best memories from my childhood.

Enjoy the remainder of your visit with Nick and Happy New Year!
