Thanksgiving at My House

The kids and their families have all gone home and I can't help but reflect about the difference between holidays now and holidays the way they used to be. Granted I'm exhausted and glad that everyone is gone but it's a good, satisfied kind of tired. The day all went well.

Even though our home is small and crammed to the hilt, people got along just fine. My tiny little living room had to accommodate fourteen bodies with the little kids playing underfoot. Yet everyone got along. There was no fighting of any kind, although my oldest daughter did give her youngest a look that says shape up or else. That was it. No conflicts of any kind.

It was nice to catch up. It was great to see my youngest grandchildren are finally beginning to recognize me. And it was especially wonderful to see the older grand kids playing on the floor with the younger kids. Aside from the usual disturbances because the three-year-old and the two-year-old both want the same toy. This was the kind of Thanksgiving that victims of abuse like me usually only dream of.

I can truly say I didn't think about the family I left behind until after everyone was gone. And those thoughts were only a brief comparison that tells me how grateful I am to have left them all behind. Who knew that holidays could truly be joyous times.

So for this Thanksgiving I have to say I am thankful for my healing. I am thankful for my life just continues to get better and better. I am thankful for a herd of incredible Arabian horses. And I am thankful for the opportunity to share my story of hope with others.

Happy Thanksgiving, Everyone!

Beautiful!
I am glad you had such a good Thanksgiving.

I've only read this entry, but I do plan to come back and read more. I just wanted to stop by while I had a minute to say thank you for visiting my blog.

I'm glad it went well for you. I won't say much because I'm suffering that post-holiday depression. Almost like it's bad when things go well because then I have to go back to the daily krap. What a mess!

we are very happy you had a Thanksgiving to remember. This sounds like just what you wanted and needed and we hope there are many more! Just wondering, did the horses get any special treats of any kind?

peace and blessings
