Update

It's been two days since my surgery. This is the day that my doctor told my husband I would be hating him (the doctor.....for doing this to me). While I don't feel great, I'm not so miserable I'd like to hire a hit man to get even with my doctor either. If this is the worst it's going to be, I think I'm going to survive ok.

So far I'm not sure what's bothering me most, the boredom or the discomfort. If I wasn't worried about tearing stitches, I'd be out working horses. Working horses would give me something to do to keep my mind off the discomfort. I'm pretty sure that wrestling with 1000 pound animals isn't in my after care instructions so I'm going to try and be good and steer clear of the horses for at least a week.

In the meantime I'm taking lots of short snoozes in the chair and getting bored with television. It's no wonder I don't watch it on a regular basis. Although I must commend All My Children for running a story line about an injured Iraq vet and actually using an injured Iraq vet to play the role..........other than that, I haven't found anything redeeming about daytime tv.

I've tried writing some posts to get ahead on my blogging but I'm just uncomfortable enough that my concentration sucks. So for now, at least, I've given up on that idea.........we'll see what happens in a couple more days.

In the meantime, I'm craving chocolate bigtime! There must be some kind of "rule" that allows women recovering from surgery to over indulge......... Now if I could just get my husband trained to keep up the supply, I'd be in good shape.

Sounds like you have a higher pain threshold than the Dr was giving you credit for! The fact that you are only having discomfort and not intolerable pain is GOOD news!! Relax, heal, and feel better!

Get well soon, my friend. I'm glad you're doing alright with it. Medical stuff can be very upsetting, but it seems you are handling things really well. I think you can be quite proud of yourself! I'm proud of you. And I hope you will soon be enjoying fabulous health and strength. Sending healing thoughts...

Rule #1 for women recovering from surgery - thou shalt consume as much chocolate as thy heart desires.

Rule #1 for husbands whose wives are recovering from surgery - thou shalt meet your wife's every need and desire, especially for chocolate.

Chocolate after surgery doesn't have any calories, didn't they include that on your out-patient instructions? I understand about coming out of anesthesia and how disorienting it can be, I can't imagine how much more it would be for you. I'm glad it isn't as bad as the doctor thought it would be -- take care of yourself!
