And you are on a magic carpet.

Are they inquisitive or startled? It's been years since I painted this so I'm not really sure.

keepers, I guess I am an artist. I really haven't thought of myself in those terms because most of my work is dark in very graphic content.

katie, I'm sure you're right about sassy......now anyways. I doubt that she was when she first showed up.

kahless, you're right about the carpet. Despite how long it's been since I painted this I remember clearly the carpet was magical and the bubbles have special significance to this child as well.

ok so am i trhe only one who can see more in the picture, to me she lookes scared and exposed but maybe im seeing it wrong?

No, JIP, you are not seeing it wrong. You are seeing it right. She is feeling exposed and scared. That is what I see when I look at her picture.

Since I've posted this today, I have been remembering her story. There is more remembering to do before I can tell it, however. When I know more I will post.

How absolutely cute! You have talent, RR!

Oh I LOVE it. I'm with JIP - she looks like she was just walked in on and is trying to cover herself.

Wow, you ARE an artist! She looks so adorable and precious. How could anybody ever abuse an innocent, beautiful child like that?

I would like to hear more about her story, when you're up to it. Thanks for your on-going courage in sharing.

Every time I look at it, she looks different. I do some apprehension on her face a lot of times. I wonder if this is what MPD looks like in the very young.

I sure wish I could paint like you. It's an amazing painting. Thank you for sharing it.

If you drew that, I commend you! I always wished I could draw.

There is a certain vulnerability about the picture.

clanberries, you are more right than you know.

It's ok the bigs already left. Your thoughts are welcome here too.

lynn, I wish I had enough confidence in that talent to allow myself to paint other things than just my past.....maybe someday.

enola, she does have that look about her.

marj, I think I will introduce her but her story will have lots of trippers I think.

labyrinth, yes, she does that to me as well. I see different things at different times.

You're right about her being a young multiple but whether or not she was detectable to an untrained eye, I don't know.

chessemesiter, I did draw it but I got inspiration from something I saw that reminded me of this child. Now I don't even remember what that source was.

She was indeed a vulnerable child. Still is, I think.

This is Kim's mom. We were looking at your self-portrait, when I noticed how lopsided the face is and decided to block one half of the face at a time. The one side is very soft and round, childlike, and looks very sad and scared. The other side is more square and powerful looking, more adult! even. I see no fear and sadness in that side. I see sparkle in the eye, and is it hope? oh, lots of good things, it's hard to articulate it all. Well, I have to say, it is an amazing self portrait. Did you think about all of that or did it just flow unconsciously? Well it seems to me you have made lemonade out of lemons. My daughter loves you and we have enjoyed and learned lots from your Rising Rainbow blog. Thank you
DM
